A vanishing identity of adjoint Reidemeister torsions of twist knots

چکیده
For a compact oriented 3-manifold with torus boundary the adjoint Reidemeister torsion is defined as function on $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{C})$-character variety depending choice of curve. Under reasonable assumptions, it conjectured that satisfies certain type vanishing identities. In this paper, we prove conjecture holds for all hyperbolic twist knot exteriors by using Jacobi's residue theorem.

Non–abelian Reidemeister Torsion for Twist Knots
Twist knots form a family of special two–bridge knots which include the trefoil knot and the figure eight knot. The knot group of a two–bridge knot has a particularly nice presentation with only two generators and a single relation. One could find our interest in this family of knots in the following facts: first, twist knots except the trefoil knot are hyperbolic; and second, twist knots are n...
متن کاملTwisted Reidemeister Torsion for Twist Knots
A. The aim of this paper is to give an explicit formula for the SL 2(C)-twisted Reidemeister torsion in the case of twist knots. For hyperbolic twist knots, we also prove that the twisted Reidemeister torsion at the holonomy representation can be expressed as a rational function evaluated at the cusp shape of the knot. Tables giving approximations of the twisted Reidemeister torsion for ...
متن کاملMonodromy, Vanishing Cycles, Knots and the Adjoint Quotient
These notes, adapted from two talks given at the Clay Institute Summer School on Floer homology, gauge theory, and low-dimensional topology (Budapest, 2004), retain the format of the original lectures. The first part describes as background some of the geometry of symplectic fibre bundles and their monodromy. The second part applies these general ideas to certain Stein fibre bundles that arise ...
متن کاملCobordisms and Reidemeister torsions of homotopy lens spaces
We show that any 3–dimensional homotopy lens space M that is simplehomotopy equivalent to a lens space L(p, q) is topologically s-cobordant to the lens space. It follows that M has the same multi-signature as L(p, q) and the action of π1(M) on the universal cover of M embeds in a free orthogonal action on S . متن کاملRefinement of Twisted Alexander Invariants and Sign-determined Reidemeister Torsions
Twisted Alexander invariants of knots are well-defined up to multiplication of units. We get rid of this multiplicative ambiguity via a combinatorial method. We can show that the refined invariants coincide with sign-determined Reidemeister torsions associated to some Euler structures. As an application, we obtain stronger necessary conditions for a knot to be fibered than those previously know...
